Langur - Rangu-ru (English spelling) langur

Japanese: ラングール - らんぐーる(英語表記)langur
Langur - Rangu-ru (English spelling) langur

A general term for animals in the genus Presbytis, which are found in Asia east of Pakistan, among the animals of the family Cercopithecidae, order Primates, class Mammalia, subfamily Colobinae. There are 14 species of monkeys in this genus, Presbytis , all of which feed mainly on leaves, have a slender build with a body length of 50-70 cm, a tail length of 50-100 cm, and are also called lanky monkeys.

The color of the fur varies from species to species, but they are divided into four subgenera based on the color of the babies. Those with black babies are in the subgenus Langur, those with white cheeks and gray or black elsewhere in the subgenus Kasi, those with white bodies in the subgenus Leaf Monkey, and those with orange babies in the subgenus Luton. Of these, the two subgenera Langur and Kasi are distributed in the Indian subcontinent and Sri Lanka, and in the strict sense, these are called langurs. The Hanuman langur ( P. entellus ) of the subgenus Langur lives throughout the region, the Nilgiri langur (P. johnii) of the subgenus Kasi lives in the southern tip of the Indian peninsula, and the purple-faced langur ( P. senex ) in Sri Lanka. All three species form small monogamous groups, with territories of about one square kilometer.
