This is a diary written by Konchiin Suden over a period of 24 years, from 1610 to 1633. It is also called the Kokushi Nikki or Suden Nikki. It has been published in seven volumes by Zoku Gunsho Ruiju Kanseikai. Suden was in Sunpu as a close aide to Tokugawa Ieyasu and was known as the Black Robe Chancellor. The diary contains information on Ieyasu's activities and letters from various feudal lords, making it a useful historical resource for understanding not only the inner workings of the Sunpu government, but also the actual state of the shogunate and feudal domain system at the time. In addition, because Suden was involved in incidents at temples and shrines and in the Buddhist world at the time, the diary records related facts, making it important for understanding the early Edo shogunate's control over temples and shrines.
