Anadyr River (English spelling)

Japanese: アナディル[川]（英語表記）Anadyr’

A river that flows through the Chukot Autonomous Republic in the northeastern corner of the Russian Federation. It is 1,150 km long and has a drainage area of 191,000 ^km2 . It originates in the Anadyr Mountains and empties into Anadyr Bay in the Bering Sea. The average flow rate downstream is 1,000 m3/s. It freezes over in September and October and thaws in May and June. The basin is undeveloped, but coal deposits are known to exist. In 1648, Semyon Dezhnev built a winter hut in the basin. The city of Anadyr is located on the southern bank of the Onemen Bay, which leads to the mouth of the river. [Watanabe Kazuo]

ロシア連邦の北東端，チュコート自治共和国を流れる川。長さ1150km，流域面積19万1000km²。アナディル山脈におこり，ベーリング海のアナディル湾に注ぐ。下流での平均流量は1000m3/s。9～10月に結氷し，5～6月に解ける。流域は未開発であるが，石炭の埋蔵が知られている。1648年にセミョン･デジニョフは流域に越冬小屋をつくった。河口につづくオネメン入江の南岸にアナディル市がある。【渡辺一夫】
