An arts and crafts style from the reign of Queen Victoria in England (1837-1901). Triggered by a trend towards a return to the Middle Ages, this style made use of an eclectic mix of past styles, primarily Gothic. It is also characterized by the active use of new industrial materials such as steel, concrete, and glass in addition to traditional materials such as stone and brick. ◇Also known as the "Victorian style."
