Japanese: 斡脱 - あっだつ

Ortāg was an association of Islamic usury merchants active during the Mongol Empire and the Yuan Dynasty. Wan-tatsu is the Chinese pronunciation of the name. Originally active in Turkestan, they came to the East during this period and formed ties with the imperial family and various kings and nobles, contracted to collect taxes, and borrowed funds to engage in caravan trade and usury. The interest rates charged by this usury were so terrible that one tablet of principal amounted to 1,024 tablets after 10 years, causing great hardship for the people. The government established the Quan Fusi to restrict their activities, and later abolished this office and cracked down severely.
