Japanese: 空頂黒幘 - くうちょうこくさく

〘Noun〙 A headgear worn by the Emperor or Crown Prince at the coming-of-age ceremony before the crowning ceremony. It means a black open-topped cap , a type of crown made of black silk. In the Edo period, a traditional Japanese cloth was made into a mountain shape and attached to the front of the cap, placed on the forehead and tied at the back. ※New Ceremony ( around 963) 4 "In the north wing of the _South Palace, the Emperor _presented _a _topknot _to the Emperor, who wore _an open-topped black _cap , a _loose robe, _and took to the _throne . _"
