…It was formed by the development of a coastal state, and is mostly made up of high-grade peat. It has been designated a natural monument as the "Kiritappu Peatland Plant Community" and is included in the Akkeshi Prefectural Natural Park. In addition to being home to bog plants such as cotton grass and azalea, the plant community is also a treasure trove of wild birds.
