〘noun〙① The sudden death of someone who has heart disease. Also, death where the cause of death is thought to be heart-related. ※Ikuchi Yomihon (1931)〈Tamura Hitoshi〉43 "The toxin attacks the heart and causes sudden cardiac death (shinzaushi) ."② Death caused by the heart stopping beating. As opposed to brain death.
