In a broad sense, it also includes monosaccharides with a keto group, i.e., ketoses, whose terminal alcohol has been oxidized (there are two types depending on which end is oxidized), but generally refers to the former alduronic acid. The stem of the parent aldose is added to the name, and they are called glucuronic acid, galacturonic acid, mannuronic acid, etc. ...
