Japanese: 旭[町] - あさひ

A former town in Naka District, central Shimane Prefecture. A mountain town on the Hamada Expressway. The town produces Wagyu beef, rice, pears, and shiitake mushrooms. Mount Ungetsu, on the border with Hiroshima Prefecture, is suitable for skiing and hiking, and is part of the West Chugoku Mountains Quasi-National Park. The town is known for its Takumai, a divine ritual that predicts good and bad fortune. In October 2005, the town was incorporated into Hamada City along with Misumi Town, Kinjo Town, and Yasaka Village in Naka District. Area: 128.57 ^km2 . Population: 3,189 (2003).

Located on the Mino-Mikawa Plateau, Odo, the town's center, is on the left bank of the Yahagi River, which flows west along the northern border. Agriculture and forestry are the main industries. The town is home to the scenic Yahagi Valley, and mineral springs such as Sakakino, Sasado, and Ikeshima. In April 2005, it was incorporated into Toyota City along with the towns of Fujioka and Obara in Nishikamo District, and the towns of Asuke, Inabu, and Shimoyama in Higashikamo District. Area: 82.16 ^km2 . Population: 3,606 (2003).

A former town in Kume County, central Okayama Prefecture. Known as the roof of Kume, it has extensive forests. The center is Nishikawa River on the shore of Lake Asahikawa. The town produces rice, tobacco leaves, eggs, milk, and beef. Forestry is also practiced, growing cedar and cypress trees. Lake Asahikawa was formed by the construction of a multipurpose dam and offers beautiful scenery. In March 2005, it merged with Chuo Town and Yanahara Town in Kume County to become Misaki Town. 82.99 ^km2 . 3,514 people (2003).

愛知県北部，東加茂郡の旧町。美濃三河高原にあり，北境を西流する矢作(やはぎ)川左岸に中心の小渡(おど)がある。農林業を基幹産業とする。景勝地の矢作渓谷があり，榊野(さかきの)，笹戸，池島などの鉱泉がわく。2005年４月西加茂郡藤岡町，小原村，東加茂郡足助町，稲武町，下山村と豊田市へ編入。82.16km²。3606人（2003）。

岡山県中部，久米郡の旧町。久米の屋根といわれ，山林が広い。中心は旭川湖岸の西川。米，葉タバコ，鶏卵，牛乳，肉牛を産する。スギ，ヒノキなどの林業も行う。旭川湖は多目的ダム建設でできた湖で風光がよい。2005年３月久米郡中央町，柵原町と合併し町制，美咲町となる。82.99km²。3514人（2003）。
