Family style - Kafuu

A lifestyle and attitude rooted in the history of each family's life. Customs formed from the family's ancestors, the family head's place of origin, occupation, social class, education, etc. naturally accumulated, going from minor habits of daily life to becoming a characteristic of general lifestyles. When the head of the family is at the center and the continuation of the family is emphasized, these customs do not remain mere customs, but become things that govern the family's life and form ethical rules for the family. This emphasis on family tradition was conscious of early modern samurai and upper class citizens, but in modern times, as home life itself has become a place for family members to live together, restrictive family traditions are gradually disappearing.

それぞれの家族の生活の歴史に根ざした生活様式，生活態度。家祖，家長の出身地，職業，社会的階層，教養などから形成される生活慣習が自然に積重なって，日常生活の些細な習慣から，一般に生活態度に関しての特色をなすにいたったもの。家長中心で家の継続が重視されるときには，単なる生活慣習にとどまらず，家族の生活を律するものとなり，家族に対して倫理的な掟を形成するようにもなる。このような家風の重視は，近世の武家や，上層階級の市民に意識されたものであるが，近代にいたって，家庭生活そのものが家族構成員の共同生活の場としての傾向を強めるに従って，束縛的な家風は消失しつつある。
