1520 or 21-82 Italian copperplate engraver of the Raimondi school. A pupil of G. Romano, he produced prints of Romano's works, as well as those of Michelangelo and Raphael, other Mannerists. In 1551 he produced prints in Antwerp with H. Cock, but later traveled to France and produced prints of works by the School of Fontainebleau. His work, called "Raphael's Dream" or "Michelangelo's Melancholia," based on his own sketches, is a compilation of extremely complex Manneristic images.
