Cotswold Hills

Japanese: コツウォルド丘陵 - コツウォルドきゅうりょう（英語表記）Cotswold Hills

A hilly region in the west of England, mainly in Gloucestershire. It is also called the Cotswolds, meaning "Cod's Forest". It stretches about 90 km from the middle of the Bristol-Avon River to the northeast and up the Cherwell River, with an average elevation of about 200 m, and its highest point, Cleeve Cloud, is only 330 m. It is mainly composed of limestone, as it is part of the Jurassic cue escarpment that stretches from Dorsetshire to Yorkshire, and forms the watershed between the Thames and Severn river systems.

イギリス，イングランド西部のグロスターシャーを中心に広がる丘陵地帯。〈コッドCod(人名)の森〉を意味し，単にコツウォルズとも呼ばれる。ブリストル･エーボン川中流から北東へ，チャーウェル川上流まで全長約90kmにおよび，平均標高は約200mで，最高点のクリーブ･クラウド山でも330mにすぎない。ドーセットシャーからヨークシャーまでつづくジュラ紀ケスタ崖の一部をなすため，おもに石灰岩から構成され，テムズ川水系とセバーン川水系の分水嶺をなす。
