Camphor tree

A county-level city in central Jiangxi Province, China, along the midstream of the Ganjiang River. It belongs to the Yichun prefecture-level city, with a population of 596,800 (2012). During the Southern Tang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties, Qingjiang County was established, and the city was established in 1988. It is known as a distribution center for goods in the middle and lower reaches of the Ganjiang River, especially for medicinal herbs. It is also a center of land and water transportation, along the Shanghai-Kunming Line (Shanghai-Kunming), with a branch line to Shengtang branching off at Zhangjiashan. The Beijing-Kowloon Line opened in 1996, running north-south through the eastern part of the city and connecting Beijing to Hong Kong. The city's main agricultural products are rice, sesame, rapeseed, wheat, and citrus fruits. The pharmaceutical industry has been thriving since the Tang and Song dynasties, and the city is also known as the "medicine city." There are remains from the Neolithic period within the city.

中国、江西(こうせい)省中部の県級市。贛江(かんこう)中流に沿う。宜春(ぎしゅん)地級市に所属し、人口59万6800（2012）。五代の南唐のとき清江(せいこう)県が置かれ、1988年市制施行された。贛江中・下流域の物資の集散地で、とくに薬草類の集散地として知られる。また水陸交通の中心地で、滬昆(ここん)線（上海(シャンハイ)―昆明(こんめい)）に沿い、上塘(じょうとう)への支線が張家山(ちょうかさん)で分岐する。1996年京九線が開通し、本市東部を南北に縦貫して北京(ペキン)から香港(ホンコン)に通じている。米、ゴマ、ナタネ（アブラナ）、小麦、柑橘(かんきつ)類がおもな農産物である。唐・宋(そう)代から製薬業が盛んで、「薬都」とも称される。市内に新石器時代の遺跡がある。
