Japanese: パブロダル（英語表記）Pavlodar

The capital of the eponymous region in the northeastern part of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Central Asia. Population 342,000 (1991). Located on the right bank of the Irtysh River. Founded around 1720 by the merchant Koryakov to develop a salt lake, it was called Koryakovskii Stanitsa in 1838, and renamed to its current name in 1861. It later became famous as a grain distribution center and salt production area. It became the capital of the region in 1938. There are construction and industrial complexes, as well as factories for machine manufacturing, aluminum smelting, and ship repair.

中央アジア，カザフスタン共和国北東部にある同名州の州都。人口34万2000(1991)。イルティシ川右岸に位置する。1720年ごろ商人コリヤコフによって塩湖開発のため開かれ，1838年コリヤコフ宿Koryakovskii stanitsaと称され，61年現名に改称。その後，穀物の集散地，製塩地として有名になった。1938年州都となる。建設工業コンビナートや機械製作，アルミ製錬，船舶修理の工場がある。
