Carbine - carbine

Carbine - carbine

Traditionally, it referred to a short rifle (carbine in English, Karbine in German) with a shortened barrel of an infantry rifle, and was called a cavalry rifle or a cavalry rifle. In 1941, the U.S. Army commissioned the Winchester Firearms Company to design a new type of lightweight short rifle that was somewhere between an infantry rifle and a submachine gun, moving away from the characteristics of the previous carbine rifle, as an officer's firearm. Since adopting this as the M1 Carbine, the term carbine has come to refer to this type of rifle. Conventional types used the same ammunition as infantry rifles, but the M1 Carbine and later used a unique ammunition that was somewhere between a rifle bullet and a pistol bullet, could be loaded with 15 to 30 rounds, and had an automatic loading mechanism. The M1 Carbine has been widely used in Southeast Asian countries that had equipment provided by the U.S. military since World War II.
