The predecessor of Kofuku-ji Temple. It was originally Yamashina Temple in Yamashiro Province (Kyoto Prefecture ) and was moved to Umayasaka (Ishikawa-cho, Kashihara City) in Asuka, Yamato Province (Nara Prefecture) in the first year of the reign of Emperor Tenmu ( 672 ) . It was then moved to Nara when the capital was moved to Heijo-kyo, and was renamed Kofuku-ji Temple. Hoko-ji Temple. 興福寺の前身。山城国(京都府)山科(やましな)にあった山階(やましな)寺を天武天皇元年(六七二)大和国(奈良県)飛鳥(あすか)の厩坂(橿原市石川町)に移したもの。さらに平城京遷都で奈良に移り、興福寺と改名。法光寺。
