A drug that blocks the muscarinic action caused by parasympathetic stimulants. Atropine is a representative example, so it is also called an atropine-like drug or an antimuscarinic drug. Atropine does not affect the nicotinic action that acetylcholine exerts on autonomic ganglia, motor nerve endings, etc.

...A drug that relaxes abnormal contractions and spasms of visceral smooth muscles and relieves visceral pain caused by spasms. It is broadly divided into two types. One is a parasympathetic nerve suppressant (anticholinergic drug) represented by atropine, which is also called neurotropic antispasmodic or atropine-like agent. It inhibits and antagonizes acetylcholine, blocking the transmission of nerve excitation and relieving spasms. The other is a drug that acts directly on smooth muscle cells to suppress spasms, and since papaverine is a typical example of this drug, it is also called neurotropic antispasmodic or papaverine-like agent.
