An old town in Fujitsu District, southern Saga Prefecture. The town center, located in the lowlands upstream of the Shiota River, was an old post station on the Nagasaki Road (currently National Route 34). There is a large 300-year-old tea tree (a natural monument). Pottery production is also thriving. In January 2006, it merged with Shiota Town, Fujitsu District, to become a city, Ureshino City. 80.46 km2 .
