Japanese: ギョウチュウ(蟯虫) - ぎょうちゅう

This is a human parasite belonging to the nematode family, the family Pinniidae, that infects the intestinal tract. Its body length is about 1 cm, and females crawl out of the anus while sleeping at night and lay eggs in the surrounding area. At this time, itching is particularly severe in young children. Eggs are detected by applying tape to the anus. It is transmitted orally, but adults may be sources of infection unknowingly. Anthelmintics include piperazine.

線虫類ギョウチュウ科に属する人体寄生虫で腸管に寄生する。体長1cm内外，雌は夜間睡眠時に肛門からはい出し周辺に卵を産みつける。この時かゆみが特に幼児に激しい。テープを肛門部にはりつけて検卵する。経口感染するが，成人が無自覚に感染源となっていることもある。駆虫剤はピペラジン剤など。
