Kabuki dance piece. Kiyomoto (originally the Tokiwazu piece "Gannin Bozu"). Original title: "Seven Pieces of Flowers". One of the seven transformations. First performed by Bando Mitsugoro III at the Edo Ichimuraza in Bunka 8 (1811). Lyrics by Sakurada Jisuke II, music by Kishizawa Koshikibu III, choreography by Fujima Kanjuro I. A dance of the customs in which a gannin monk, an entertainer who makes a petition on behalf of others on the street, dances half-naked with only a loincloth and a black robe draped over it, and wears a chobokure. When Onoe Kikugoro VI performed it in 1929, Kiyomoto Enjutayu 5 rewrote it into Kiyomoto, incorporating the mix-and-match dance (using a verse that combines popular songs) from "Onna Kumosuke" (around 1828), also a Kiyomoto piece. It is a light-hearted piece with a traditional rhythm. The final act features a dance performed in villain masks.
