Sculptor. Born in Mito City. In 1914 (Taisho 3), he entered Asakura Fumio's sculpture school, and in 1916, his work "Heikichi" was selected for the 10th Bunten exhibition for the first time, and he continued to exhibit in official exhibitions. In 1921, he traveled to Europe, working with Bourdelle in Paris for about a year, and stayed in France for the next 15 years, exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants, and becoming devoted to Greek archaic sculpture. After returning to Japan, he exhibited at the Nikaten Exhibition for a time, but from 1948 (Showa 23), he exhibited his lifelike works at the Shinjukai Exhibition, and won a number of awards, including the Mainichi Art Award and the Nakahara Teijiro Award. His representative works include the terracotta "Woman's Face," created during his stay in Europe, as well as "Sleeping Woman" and "Found Pose."
