Farinacci, Roberto

Born: October 16, 1892 in Isernia
[Died] April 28, 1945. Milan, Italy. Fascist politician. Initially a socialist railroad worker, he became a promoter of the fascist movement (→ Fascism) after World War I and played an active role as a leader of militant fascism. He was a member of the National Assembly from 1921 to 1943, and Secretary General of the Fascist Party from 1925 to 1926. He was a member of the Grand Council of Fascism in 1935, and Minister of State in 1938. He became an ardent supporter of Nazi Germany and promoted Italy's entry into World War II. After the fall of B. Mussolini in 1943, he fled Rome, but was captured by partisans in 1945 and summarily executed.
