pH - pH

A method of expressing hydrogen ion concentration. It is the negative logarithm of the molar concentration of hydrogen ions (number of moles in 1 liter of solution) [H(+/)], i.e. pH = -log[H(+/)] (this is written as ph, and pH is sometimes defined as the activity of hydrogen ions, but the difference is within 0.1). It is also called pH or hydrogen ion exponent.
