A pass in the Pangi Mountains, running southeast from Mt. Nanga Parbat at the northwestern edge of the Punjab Himalayas in the northwest of the Indian subcontinent. It is 4,199m above sea level. Due to the ceasefire line of the Kashmir conflict drawn in 1949, it became part of Azad Kashmir on the Pakistani side. Before the partition of India and Pakistan, it was used as an important transportation route from Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir, through Gilgit and Hunza to Central Asia, and as a route for climbing the Karakoram mountain range.
