These were mediated by the concrete art of Kandinsky and Max Bill (1908-94) and the lettrisme of Isidore Isou (1925- ), and became the concrete poetry movement after World War II, which made language independent of grammar and meaning and liberated it as a naked material to time, space, and the world structure.
