Weaving thread

An abbreviation for degreased fabrics made with silk threads. Degreased silk threads with single twists are used for both the warp and weft, and plain weaves are also called plain weaves. Depending on the structure, twisting method, and raw threads, there are twill weaves, moro weaves, wall weaves, and knot weaves, and they are used for striped, kasuri, or plain kimono fabrics. As degreased silk threads are used, the woven surface is characterized by its smoothness and luster. Yonezawa weave (Yonezawa weave) is well known, and in Kyoto, it is equivalent to what is called flat omeshi (plain cloth).

絹糸を使用した練織物の略称。経緯(たてよこ)糸とも片撚(よ)りの練絹糸を使ったもので、平織にしたものを平糸織とも称した。組織、撚り方、原糸の違いにより、綾(あや)糸織、諸(もろ)糸織、壁糸織、節(ふし)糸織などがあり、縞(しま)、絣(かすり)または無地の着尺地(きじゃくじ)として使用される。練絹糸を使用しているので、織面は平滑で光沢に富んでいるのが特徴である。米沢(よねざわ)糸織（米沢織）がよく知られているが、京都では平お召（お召）とよんでいるものが、これに相当する。
