Flooring boards. They are classified as flooring boards, flooring blocks, parquet blocks, etc. Generally, hard broad-leaved wood is used. (1) Flooring boards: A single board made of hinoki or zelkova, but often made of nara, beech, or lauan. It is about 1.5-2 cm thick, 5-10 cm wide, and 2-6 m long. The front and back are shaved, the sides are tongued and grooved, the ends are grooved, and a shallow groove is made on the back. (2) Flooring block: A type of parquet board. Three or four rectangular boards, each 1.5-2 cm thick, are joined together with glue or with corrugated nails on the back to form a 23-30 cm square. The back is waterproofed and the board is laid on the floor with asphalt cement or mortar and metal feet. Nara wood is mainly used. (3) Parquet block: A board for parquet laying. Pieces of wood with different colors or grains are combined in various patterns. The floor is then finished by applying adhesive to the floor. These wooden floorboards are inferior to plastic, stone, and ceramic floor tiles in terms of fire resistance, water resistance, and rot resistance, but they have excellent insulation properties, a pleasant feel due to their moderate elasticity, and are beautiful, so they have long been widely used in homes, offices, gymnasiums, etc. Other types include tiles made from cork, and sheets made from rubber or polyvinyl chloride.

床板。フローリング・ボード，フローリング・ブロック，パーケット・ブロックなどに分類される。一般に硬質の広葉樹材を用いる。 (1) フローリング・ボード　一枚板でひのき，けやきもあるが，なら，ぶな，ラワンなどが多く用いられ，厚さ約 1.5～2cm，幅約5～10cm，長さ2～6mで，表，裏を削り，側面をさねはぎ，木口面にしゃくり，裏面に浅いしゃくり溝をつくる。 (2) フローリング・ブロック　寄せ木板の一種。短冊形の，厚さ 1.5～2cmの板3～4枚を，接着剤または裏面に波釘を打って継ぎ合せ，23～30cm角としたもの。裏面を防水処理し，アスファルト・セメントまたはモルタルと足金物などで床面に張込む。なら材をおもに使う。 (3) パーケット・ブロック　寄せ木張り用の板。材色または木目の異なる木片を，種々の模様に組合せたもの。床に接着剤で張って仕上げる。これら木質の床板はプラスチック，石材，陶磁器床タイルなどに比べて耐火性，耐水性，耐腐性などで劣るが，断熱性にすぐれ，適度の弾力性があるため触感がよいこと，美しいことなどのため，古くから住宅，事務所，体育館などに広く使用されている。ほかに，コルクをタイル状にしたもの，ゴムや塩化ビニルをシート状にしたものなどがある。
