〘Noun〙 (also "akaki") 1. A semi-deciduous tall tree of the Euphorbiaceae family. It grows in the mountains and fields of tropical Asia, and is commonly seen in Okinawa. It can reach a height of over 20 meters. The leaves are compound with three leaflets that are red and alternate on long stalks. The leaflets are egg-shaped or elliptical, 10 to 20 centimeters long, pointed at the tip, and have blunt sawtooth edges. In spring, it produces small yellow-green flowers in a cone shape. Dioecious. The wood is dark red, hard, and resistant to moisture, so it is used in place of rosewood for crafts and other things. Atan. Katan no ki. 2.
