Tohoku
Noh play. Third piece. Various schools. Author unknown. Old name: "Nobari Ume". When a monk from the eastern provinces was looking at a plum tree at Tohoku-in Temple in the capital, a woman from the village came and told him that this plum tree was once named "Nobari Ume" by Izumi Shikibu and looked at it. She then said that she was the owner of the plum tree and disappeared. That night, Izumi Shikibu appeared in the monk's dream and told him how the head of the temple once composed a waka poem when he passed by this gate, and danced while talking about the merits of waka poetry.

謡曲。三番目物。各流。作者不詳。古名「軒端梅」。東国の僧が都の東北院で梅をながめていると、里の女が来て、この梅はむかし和泉式部が軒端の梅と名づけてながめた木であるといわれを語り、自分はその梅の主だと告げて姿を消す。その夜、僧の夢の中に和泉式部が現われ、むかし御堂関白がこの門前を通ったとき和歌を詠んだことや和歌の功徳を語って舞をまう。
