〘 noun 〙 A term used in the creation of Japanese musical scales. Going down six steps in the opposite direction. It is the opposite of going up eight steps in order, which is called " junpachi" . Going up eight steps in order from Miya produces the tone Chi , and going down six steps from the tone Chi produces the tone Shang. By repeating this process and arranging the notes in order of pitch, the five notes Miya, Shang, Kaku, Shang, and Hane are produced.
