Tropical - Tropical (English spelling)

A thin worsted fabric with a plain weave and clear finish. It is also called Palm Beach. Palm Beach is a trademark name taken from the name of a beach in the United States, but it is now known worldwide as a worsted fabric suitable for hot weather. The fabric has a smooth feel, is breathable, and has a little tension. Types include marbled tropical and heather tropical, and recently synthetic fibers have also appeared. It is mainly used for summer clothing, such as suits.

薄地の梳毛(そもう)織物で、組織は平織とし、クリアー仕上げをしたもの。パーム・ビーチpalm beachともいう。パーム・ビーチとは、アメリカの海水浴場の地名からとった商標名であるが、現在では世界的に通用する酷暑向けの梳毛織物として知られている。生地(きじ)は、さらっとした感触と通風性があり、やや張りが強い。種類としては、霜降りトロピカル、ヒーザー・トロピカルなどがあり、最近では、化合繊を使ったものも現れている。主として夏服地で、背広、スーツなどに用いられる。
