A town in Kamikita District, eastern Aomori Prefecture. Located on Lake Ogawara and the Sanbongihara area to the west, the Aoimori Railway runs through the town. In addition to farming Chinese yams and carrots, rice and livestock farming are also thriving. In March 2005, Kamikita Town, Kamikita District, was incorporated and the town hall became the former Kamikita Town Hall. The town sustained damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 青森県東部，上北郡の町。小川原(おがわら)湖及びその西に広がる三本木原上にあり，青い森鉄道が通じる。ナガイモ，ニンジンなど畑作を行うほか，稲作，畜産も盛ん。2005年３月上北郡上北町を編入し，町役場を旧上北町役場とした。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。326.50km2。１万9106人（2010）。
