Japanese: 帝鑑図 - ていかんず

The title of a portrait based on the 12 volumes of the book "Teikan Zushuu" (1572, Ryukei 6) by Chinese Ming Dynasty politician Zhang Juzheng. It selects 81 good principles and 36 bad principles for rulers since Yao and Shun, and, following the style of "Mongyu," summarizes the stories in four-character sentences, describes the contents, and adds one illustration. It was more popular in Japan than in China, where it was taken up by the Kano school, which had ties with the authorities, and was later standardized by Sanraku and Tan'yu, who painted it on sliding screens.
