A machine for tilling and breaking soil in fields. Usually it refers to a power tiller (also called an automatic tiller). It works while propelled by a small prime mover (kerosene, gasoline or diesel engine, 3-8 horsepower) mounted on a steel body. It is broadly divided into a driven type, in which the tilling part is attached as part of the body, and a tow type. The former is a rotary type in which a horizontal shaft with many curved claws rotates as the tilling part, while the latter can be used by attaching various working machines such as a soil breaker to the rear of the body, and can be used for tilling, various cultivation management tasks, and transportation. It moves on wheels, and the operator walks while holding the handle at the rear of the body. Cultivators were first introduced to Japan in the mid-Taisho period, but they rapidly spread as the center of agricultural mechanization from the 1950s after World War II. →Agricultural machinery→Related topics Agricultural tractors | Hand tractors Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
