Circeo (mountain) (English spelling)
A rocky mountain (541m) forming a cape at the northwestern end of the Gulf of Gaeta in Latina Province, Lazio, central Italy, it is home to a diverse range of plants and rare animals and has been designated a national park. It is known for the myth of the sorceress Circe, who turned Odysseus' attendant into a pig, and one of the caves formed by sea erosion is named after her. Evidence of prehistoric human habitation has often been found in these caves, and in 1939, Neanderthal bones were discovered there. [Hagiwara Aiichi]
