Chiltern Hills

A hill range in southern England, United Kingdom. Located northwest of London, the chalk hills stretch for about 70 km from southwest to northeast, and define the northwest of the London Basin. The highest point is Combe Hill near Wendover, at 260 m above sea level. The hills form part of a cuesta topography, with a steep slope to the northwest and a gentle slope to the southeast toward the London Basin. The beech forests are used for furniture, and High Wycombe on the southeast foot of the southern part of the region is famous as a traditional furniture-making town.

イギリス，イングランド南部にある丘陵。ロンドンの北西方に位置する白亜から成る丘陵で，南西から北東に約 70kmにわたって延び，ロンドン盆地の北西を限る。最も高いところはウェンドーバー近くにあるクーム丘陵で，標高 260m。丘陵はケスタ地形の一部をなし，北西側に急傾斜し，南東のロンドン盆地側に緩傾斜する。植生のブナ林は家具材として利用され，南部南東麓のハイウィカムは伝統的な家具製造の町として有名。
