While PERT focuses on the overall duration of the work and aims to create the most efficient schedule possible, CPM (critical path method), an analytical method that targets critical paths, focuses on costs and aims to complete the work at the lowest possible cost. CPM seeks a schedule that minimizes the total cost required to complete the entire work within a certain duration when the cost increase rate required to shorten the standard number of days required for each task by a unit number of days is given.
