A lawsuit is filed by pollution victims seeking damages for tort against polluters and other related parties. There were cases before the war, but full-scale pollution lawsuits did not begin until the 1960s, when pollution became more serious. The four major pollution lawsuits - Itai-itai disease, Kumamoto Minamata disease, Niigata Minamata disease, and Yokkaichi asthma - are particularly famous, and all of them were won by the plaintiffs between 1971 and 1973 (a lawsuit regarding the government's responsibility for Minamata disease was still pending, but the government agreed to a settlement in 1995, effectively settling the case). Other notable lawsuits include the Osaka Airport Pollution Lawsuit, the US Air Force Base Pollution Lawsuit, the Shinkansen Pollution Lawsuit, and the Nishiyodogawa Air Pollution Lawsuit. →Basic Act on the Environment / Pollution Crimes / Pollution Dispute Resolution Act Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
