…It is a type of soft candy made mainly from sugar, starch syrup, condensed milk, and butter. The name caramel comes from the Portuguese word caramelo, which means sugar candy, along with caramel and caramel. The originator of the caramel sold commercially today is Morinaga Taichiro, the founder of Morinaga & Co., Ltd., who learned Western confectionery manufacturing techniques while living in the United States and opened a Western confectionery factory in Akasaka, Tokyo in 1899.
