<br /> The remains of a settlement in Oizumi-machi, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Located on a ridge at an altitude of about 770m, almost in the center of the southern foot of Mt. Yatsugatake, the settlement consists of ruins from the late to final Jomon period on the north side (Area A) and the remains of a medieval castle on the south side (Area B). It is valuable as a representative settlement with large-scale stone-arranged remains in the Chubu region, and part of it was designated as a national historic site in 1983 (Showa 58). 41 dwelling remains were discovered in Area A of the ruins, 38 of which are from the late to final period, and five stone-arranged remains, which are characteristic of the site, were discovered. In addition, many daily life tools and ritual remains have been excavated from inside and outside the remains of the dwellings and stone-arranged remains, including containers and tools such as clay figurines, earrings, pottery, stone tools, stone swords, stone clubs , and boar mandibles. In Area B, more than 10 buildings with rows of post holes were discovered, along with the remains of moats, ditches, stonework that appears to be water reservoirs, grave pits, and 49 underground earth pits that are thought to be facilities related to graves. These remains are located to the north of the remains of the Fukakusa Castle in Nagasaka-cho, the city, and are thought to be the remains of the outer wall related to the remains of this castle. Excavated artefacts include ceramics, earthenware, stone products such as stone mills and tea mortars , old coins, bells, and flints, and the fact that granite, which does not exist in the foothills of the Yatsugatake Mountains, has been excavated suggests that there was also exchange with distant places. It has now been developed as a historic park and is open to the public. It is about a 10-minute drive from Nagasaka Station on the JR Chuo Main Line.
