A large fish that lived in the Paleozoic Era, belonging to the Placodermi class. The famous Dinychthys, which appears in old textbooks and reference books, has recently been renamed Dunkleosteus . The head and thorax are covered with thick, sturdy bone plates. The jaws have no true teeth, but the jaw bone plates are shaped like hatchets and function like teeth. The armor on the head and thorax are articulated on the left and right sides to allow movement. The rear half of the body is not covered with bony plates.
