Also known as a teletype or teleprinter. A device that automatically sends and receives telegraphic codes and punches or prints the received messages on tape. The communication content is typed onto the tape using a typewriter-like keyboard and converted into printed telegraphic code. It was invented by American DE Hughes in 1855, and the start-stop printing telegraph made by Western Electric appeared in 1910. It was used in Japan from 1927, and a domestically produced model was made in 1936.
