Year of death: 29 April 1593 (29 May 1593) Year of birth: Chuso 33.12.6 (1538.12.26) An official in the mid-Joseon dynasty. His pen name was Shijun and his title was Hakuho. He passed the civil service examination in 1568 (the first year of King Seonjo's reign). He belonged to the Eastern faction in the government. In 1590 (the 18th year of Tensho's reign), he came to Japan as a deputy communications envoy. In his report to King Seonjo of Korea, he reported that there was no possibility of Japan invading Korea, contrary to the Western faction's chief envoy Hwang Yun-gil, and this was supported by Right Councillor Ryu Seong-ryong. When the Imjin Waeran (Imjin War) broke out, he was appointed as the envoy and inspector of the right province of Gyeongsang (western part), but he died of an illness while working at his post.
