…Bilhana was a Kashmiri Brahmin who studied the Vedic sciences and was well versed in grammar and rhetoric. He became the court poet of King Vikramāṅkadevacarita (1076-1127) and wrote the historical epic Vikramāṅkadevacarita, which celebrated the exploits of the king, and the play Karṇasundari (1064-94), which was based on the marriage of King Karnadeva of Anhilbad (1064-94). But it was his 50-verse love lyric Caurapañcāśikā (Fifty Poems on Secret Love) that made him famous. *Some of the terminology explanations that mention "Karṇasundarii" are listed below.
