A type of coated printing paper. A mixture of mineral pigments and adhesive is coated on the surface of base paper, which is then dried and given a smooth and glossy finish using a device such as a supercalender which passes the paper between rolls to compress the surface. There are papers that are coated on both sides, coated on only one side, and with a matte finish. Mineral pigments include kaolin, clay, calcium carbonate, and titanium white, while adhesives include casein, starch, and latex. It has excellent printability and is used for printing with photographic plates and primary color plates. Other types of coated printing paper include coated paper, lightweight coated paper, lightly coated paper, and specially coated paper.
