...Together with the Christian Social Party and the Democratic Republican Union, this is a leading political party in national politics after World War II. (2) Christian Social Party (COPEI) This party is a successor to the National Action Party (AN), which was formed by a Catholic student organization in the 1930s, and was formed in 1946 by R. Caldera. Its main support base is the emerging urban bourgeoisie and the Catholic Church, but since 1958 it has been expanding its influence among labor unions affiliated with the Workers' League and the youth wing of the Farmers' League.
