After that, trade with the Roman Empire, which was expanding northward, flourished, and the Sviones, who are thought to be the ancestors of the Swedes, were mentioned for the first time in historical documents in Tacitus' Germania. After that, the historical documents remained silent, but in the mid-6th century, Jordanes's Origin and Exploits of the Goths and Procopius's De Pessoas mentioned the Svear and other Scandinavian tribes. …
