Also known as "nochizan" or "kosan." After the birth of the fetus, the placenta is expelled along with the fetal membrane and remaining umbilical cord. Afterbirth begins 10 to 30 minutes after the birth of the fetus, and usually involves 200 to 400 ml of blood loss. The discharge is commonly called "placenta."
