Emerald tree boa (English spelling)

Japanese: エメラルドボア(英語表記)Boa canina; emerald tree boa
Emerald tree boa (English spelling)
Order Lacertilia, Family Pythonidae. A relatively small arboreal boa with a body length of about 2m. Its back is green and spotted. It has a pair of large fangs at the front end of its upper jaw, but they are not venomous and are used to firmly grasp prey. Its tail has a great ability to prehensile. It is nocturnal and feeds on small mammals, birds, and lizards. During the day, it straddles tree branches with its head at the center and remains motionless in a unique flat coil. It lives in the tropical forests of northern South America. Its morphology and ecology are very similar to those of the green python found in Australia and New Guinea, and it is considered an example of parallel evolution.
